It's probably not realistic and it probably WOULD be time consuming, but since banner/sig making is so popular why not give it its own forum.

I could be wrong too, but it seems to be the same group of folks that create them so maybe within that section, uh..more sections titled Banners by ~insert name here~. That way when someone makes a banner for someone else they can send a pm and say 'hey go check this out' instead of having to sort through a gazillion pages (oddly I've missed some banners made for opie and or NiF because I don't always go back several pages etc to look at stuff)

Honestly, I think I'd stop posting/making banners if it was segregated into separate people. I can't help but think it's end up being really competitive, and I have better things to do with my life than compete over a 500x100 set of pixels.

The other, more regular posters may have a different view, of course.

To be honest I never noticed it as being something that people 'fought' over doing. That's just me. Maybe the people I happen to check when they ask for a new siggy don't have that problem o.O I'm not sure.

I mean if they don't use them they don't use them. But at least you would know when and where you had a reply to your request for one... and that's always nice. That and you wouldn't think people didn't like them >.>

This works for me. Also, I hate having to clear out the red button just because the banner thread changes fifty cazillion times a day.

I look at everything as a competion because I'm inherently very competive and results driven. I understand what that person is saying.

It can, and probably will, turn into a 'who has commented on my banners thread? - Thing. How many people have? Am I not liked and my banners unappreciated because I only have 24 comments and that person has 100. Am I being ignored, that person has more because he/she is in that clique.

I don't discount the benefit of it for people who like that stuff. Just saying.

In a thread like it is, you can ignore having your banner ignored, but when you have your own thread and you dont get a single comment, a single kudo and Joe Blow next door gets 100 in a half hour, it can, and is demoralising.

It's life, because that's the way shit works in the real world and you deal with it (thus why I'm inherently competitive) and it will happen in a board if you make one to cater to this particular 'thing'.

But this coming from a person who has does an internal statistical analysis on how many people read her RP based on duration it's sat, incremented increase in views when new posted and age it takes to accrue.

Wait, wait... I'm confused. I thought maybe we organize them by character banners, not who made banners. I think that'd be more helpful. That way, if someone is bored and wishes to make a banner, they can go to the bottom of the list to choose someone who doesn't have many to pick from.

So like, the buttons would be:

And not

In which case, the same stands, this time for the people who have no one who wants to make banners for their characters.

I guess, there is always a way to make something competitive, no matter how you look at it. I like the idea if it helps those who work artistically for the game to showcase their work.

To be honest, some people don't get banners made for them because their model has sucky photos, not enough photos, or is too damn naked for me to want to be creative and make banners for them. It's not my fault. It's essentially because of the model they picked and my inability or disinterest in working with it.

ETA: Hell, I barely even make banners for myself anymore because Mandee hasn't had new pictures in ages and I don't have the motivation to go through all the old ones I have and try and spice them up.

Yes, because I've seen it work. No, because I've seen people get antsy and pushy in the Banner Request thread. Not to mention people tend to forget to update their thread...model etc...and if a banner is randomly made with the wrong face...they completely ignore said banner without a that's great/i hate it/fuck off.

Yeah...I've had that done to me. It's incredibly offensive. And now the reason I charge for banners.

I've seen it done on TDR (don't shoot me) where they have a subforum for artists to display their art work and a subforum just for people to have banner requests. But of course, that would mean the banner thread we have now would need to cease to exist because it would probably slow down the server as Ash mentioned to me and Blair on skype if we have all those banners.

Umm...it wouldn't bother me that much because it would be better organized. Umm....as for as the competition part of it...I don't know about that. I do banners for fun, so I wouldn't be a great person to compete with.

I like it, because... well, you can go through and surprise people who don't have many banners with new ones And you can be surprised!

But I get the argument about competitiveness. On TDR it's done with 'artist' portfolio type things and I was bummed out when nobody commented on mine 'cause I wasn't one of the 'cool' kids. But hey. I got over it quickly. And got over the site quickly. You get what I mean.

So generally, good idea.

I just found out today I am apparently very sensitive about my work... even if it is just putting pictures together and manipulating them.

I actually like this idea..kinda. Having a section for banners in which we keep the thread that we have just move it to the new section and on top of that have banner maker 'profile' threads in which an artist can show off their work/say if they charge/ ect. The makers can add a profile if they -want- And if they don't they can just add their banner to the banner thread we have now and be done with it.

I think its a great idea.

I think that if you're going to do it, you should have enough banner makers signed up to the idea for it to warrant a sub-board. Rather than "getting it done" and ending up with no profiles anyway.

Which just means I need banner makers to pop up here and tell me if they would want a profile for their work. So. If you would be interested in this idea and get a profile for yourself, go ahead and drop your name here and if we get enough we can go through with the idea. [Providing boss lady approves the idea because its her board.]

If this wasn't just a banner/signature one but a graphics in general so I can upload my CS layouts and stuff like that, I'd be up for making a portfolio. I prefer my CS' and other graphics to my banners, see. >.>

I don't see any problem with adding other things besides banners to portfolios anyway. It's to show case your artwork. *shrugs*

I think it's too much clutter for the board. The board is large enough as it is and having to go through and make another individual forum filled with individual threads for each person (you won't get boards so people can start a new thread for each banner, that's ridiculous.) seems like a lot of bruhaha on a massive board where 70% of the other forums are redundant and not used, or where multiple forums host the same purpose.

Maybe if we all have a talk about what forums we don't use, don't need, etc, or how we can condense things, it could be an option, but now with how big and complex everything is now. It really needs to be simplified before we go adding more stuff.

So like the Soapboxes thing that no-one uses, but there are still multiple boards?
